The word “ofrenda” has always held a sacred place in my heart. Ofrenda means “offering.” Ofrenda is not only a beautiful word, it is also a meaningful act. As a child I spent most of my time outside playing in the thorny desert landscape giving my little ofrendas of rocks and candies to mother earth and the soft and precious gifts she has given us by way of the hummingbirds, water, all the creatures, and wildflowers. The act of giving ofrendas is also a way to show our gratitude to our ancestors and to all that is. So it is in this spirit that I share my offerings, from my heart, to you.
